- Moses -
For example, did Moses try to accomplish God's purpose in freeing the Israelites. Presumably yes. As a prince he had received training in government and military affairs. Conceivably he could have looked to these talents as what was need to free his people. Also, by taking matters into his own hand in killing the guard it is clear that he was inclined to act in order to make things right.
Similarily Moses did experience a character change a couple of times during his life. Apparently 40 years of herding sheep so humbled Moses that he felt incapable of acting as God's spokesman. But even then there were elements of self within Moses. When moses struck the rock it revealed that he still saw himself as responsible for achieving God's purposes. Fortunately, despite his defects in character, we see at the end of Moses' life that he had been brought to a point of complete repentence.
